Year 5 – Ruby

smiley Term 4

We hope you had a great half-term break! Check in regularly for updates on our one night concert before Easter!

We are now starting our new text 'Holes' by Louis Sachar, which has great opportunities to develop reading skills in various ways.

Accelerated Reading is going really well and the children are taking lots on online tests no Thanks for your continued support in reading with your child at home; it really makes a difference.

Ruby Class will also be studying Europe/the Mediterranean and focusing on Italy in particular, in Term 4.

Term 4's Science week will revolve around Forces. again but with a focus on gravity, air and water resistance.

These will be updated every Monday so do check on here if you're not certain what your child has to do.

Spelling lists will be sent home on Mondays, linking to a specific Year 5 NC objective. These will be tested on the following Monday.

Spellings set 6th February: commonly confused homophones and similar words.

TEST: Monday 2Oth Feb

Maths homework will be regular practice of tables up to 12 x please and other tasks will be set in line with whatever curriculum focus we are learning each week. Tables will be assessed every Thursday in class.

Homework: For half-term there will be a fractions written task, which your child will receive on Tues 7th.

  • PE will be on Tuesdays (Outdoor) and Thursdays (indoor)
  • Reading records will be collected in for scrutiny on Wednesdays every week. Please read with your child as often as you can; it really makes a difference.
