Welcome to Diamond Class!
The children got to experience a one off Archery class this morning (8.6.17). The idea of this was to see if the children enjoyed the sport and whether it would be worthwhile setting up an afterschool Archery club in September. Each year group will have an opportunity to experience this sport and a decision will be made once feedback has been received from each year.
Our topic during Science week next week (week commencing 22.5.17) is ‘Animals including humans’. During our Science week children will be creating a leaflet designed to look after an animal. This will include the habitat they live in and the food that they eat. It is important that they have this information prior to the lesson. Homework will be due in on Tuesday 23.5.17 as normal. This can be presented in note form. Children can choose ANY animal of their choice it can be a wild animal or an animal we have as a pet.
Any problems or questions please do not hesitate to ask!
Miss Baker, Miss Williams, Mrs Bath, Miss Shaw, and Mrs Todd.
The children all had a fantastic time at Larkfield Leisure Centre on Tuesday! I'm sure they are all looking forward to next week!
Please could you check your child's jumper/cardigan to make sure they haven't taken someone else's home by mistake. We have had a lot of jumpers and cardigans going missing. We all know how expensive these are to buy or replace!
Please could you double check that your child has their jumper/cardigan, with their name in it.
May I remind you that children will need to be wearing their full school uniform tomorrow (5/5/17) for class photos:
Boys: White polo shirt, school jumper, grey shorts/trousers, black or grey socks, black school shoes.
Girls: Blue and white summer dress, white polo shirt, grey skirt/pinafore, white/grey socks, black school shoes.
Thank you :)
Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely Easter break.
This term is a very exciting term, we have a lot to look forward to!
In Literacy we have started a new text 'Camille and the Sunflowers' this story focuses on the artist Vincent Van Gogh.
We will be looking at the work from Vincent Van Gogh in Art this term also.
Our Science topics this term are Animals Including Humans and Plants.
Children will start their swimming lessons in May - please make sure you have signed and returned the swimming letters as soon as possible.
Please can I also remind parents and children that any form of trading or collection cards should not be in school, thank you.
ROMAN HONEY CAKES!!
World Book Day!!! Friday 3rd of March
Thank you all for making the effort to dress up today!!
FANTASTIC MR FOX
We all had a brilliant day out at The Orchard Theatre! The show was amazing and the children loved it!
The fun has already started in Diamond Class today!! (30.1.17) Our topic this term is Light - the children have been exploring how we need light to be able to see things more clearly. The children experimented looking in boxes without any light and trying to identify different objects inside the box. Children also went inside a pitch black den with a torch to see if they could find some objects.
Today (31.1.17) the children explored shadows! We went on a shadow hunt around the school and measured the length of different shadows and identified if they were light or dark shadows, the children then recorded their results into a bar chart. We also explored how shadows can change depending on where the light is, shadows can become larger or smaller.
Please find some images below of the fun we had today!
Today (1.12.16) the children took part in an experiment to see if they could control a toy car using a magnet. The children had great fun exploring this! Once they had learnt to control the car they created their own obstacle courses.
This week we have been recapping on Forces and Magnets - today (30.11.16) in Diamond Class we made Christmas Fridge Magnets! The children worked really hard designing and writing instructions of how to make these. Please take a look at them!
Please make sure your children have a 'winter' PE kit (tracksuit bottoms, fleece, sweatshirt etc.) your children have outdoor PE on a Tuesday each week.
We have had a lot of children losing/misplacing school uniform (jumpers, cardigans, PE Kit) please can you check that your child has their own jumper/cardigan at home and if it is not labelled, can you please make that their name is clearly written/sewn into their clothing.
Miss Baker, Mrs Bath, Miss Williams
I think you will agree that the children were fantastic during their Class Assembly - thank you all for coming and supporting them and the school.
This term - We have three class texts to study this term, which link into our history curriculum. We will be starting with Stone Age boy, then moving on to a four week study of Stig of the Dump by Clive King. Then our final book will be UG by Raymond Briggs. There are lots of things to look forward to this term, one being our Christmas Production. Mrs Moon is currently working very hard on writing and finalising the scripts and they will be revealed very soon. In addition we have Christmas parties, lunch, a travelling pantomime and a disco to look forward to, so it is going to be a very exciting and busy time for all of us.
Homework will be set on a Tuesday, children will have a Times table to practice and a set of spellings, children will be tested on these on the following Tuesday. If your child scores 15 out of 18 or above they will be given the next set of spellings. Children all now have a Mathletics account were tasks will be set weekly for them to complete at home. If children are unable to complete this at home they can do it in the ICT suite on a Monday lunchtime with Miss Baker.
Reading records will be checked every Monday morning, I do not expect them to go home each day, however they must go home on a Friday. As a school we really encourage reading and for children to read at home as much as possible. If you do listen to your child read at home and their Reading Record Book is at school, please write a comment on a piece of paper and ask your child to bring it in to school and I will put it in their Reading Record.
Times table challenge Your children have been given a set of times tables to practice. They will be tested on these next Tuesday, if they score 10 out of 12 or above they will be moved up the times table chart to the next table.
PE: PE will be on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon each week. Please make sure your child/children have the correct PE kit and are equipped for both indoor and outdoor PE.
