Meet the Governors

Welcome to our Governors’ section.

Welcome to our school! I hope this introduction will explain more about the role of the Governing Body and how it fits within the school.

As a Full Governing Body (FGB) we provide strategic leadership in the school, and hold the school’s senior leadership to account. Our key functions are to:

  • set the aims and objectives for the school

  • set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives

  • set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives

  • monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives

  • be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend)

The Full Governing Body meets at least four times a year, and there are also five committees which meet once each seasonal term that report to the FGB:

Personnel Committee

Pay Committee

Finance and General Purposes Committee

Premises Committee

Curriculum and Standards Committee

Please access the link below for further details of committee membership and business interests.

Our governors are a mix of elected parents, members of the community, together with teaching staff and a diocesan representative. We are supported by our clerk, Jean Bryant. We can be contacted by email, governors@ditton-jun.kent.sch.uk
