Stanley has just arrived at the Camp and experienced his first day. Write a letter home as Stanley to his Mum. Include some of the elements we used when writing our setting descriptions and think about how we set out letters and what sort of language we would use writing to a close family member (formal or informal)

 Multiplication and Division- PROBLEM SOLVING

 

 

  1. A girl has 10 pencils in her pencil case and her friend has the same number of pencils.  How many pencils do they have altogether?

 

  1. A car can hold 5 people, how many people can 10 cars hold?

 

  1. There are 32 children in each class and 10 classes in a school.  How many children are there all together?

 

  1. Apples are packed in boxes of 10.  How many bags can be filled with 150 apples?

 

  1. There are 67 lollies in each tub, how many are there in 100 tubs?

 

  1. If cans of Fanta are packed in boxes of 100, how many cans will there be in 12 boxes?

 

  1. There are 100 sheep in each field.  If there are 600 sheep altogether how many fields does the farmer need?

 

  1. There are 10 felt-tipped pens in a packet.  If there are 120 pens in a tray, how many packets would they fill?

  1. A girl has 10 pencils in her pencil case. 4 of her friends also have the same number of pencils.  How many pencils do they have altogether?

 

  1. There are 32 children in each class and 10 classes in a school.  How many children are there altogether?  There are 3200 bits of rubbish on the playground.  How many pieces of rubbish do the children need to pick up each for it to be cleared up?

 

  1. Apples are packed in boxes of 100.  How many boxes can be filled with 9700 apples?

 

  1. A boy buys a tub of 67 lollies and his sister buys a different tub of 53 lollies.  They share all the lollies out equally into groups of 10.  The boy keeps 10 lollies for himself and his sister keeps 10 lollies for herself.  How many of their friends can they give 10 lollies to? 

 

  1. If cans of Fanta are packed in boxes of 100, how many cans will there be in 134 boxes?

 

  1. There are 100 sheep in each field.  If there are 600 sheep altogether how many fields does the farmer need?

 

  1. There are 10 felt-tipped pens in a packet.  If there are 470 pens in a tray, how many packets would they fill?
